Design Snap - redesign
Some time ago I created a room design app. A typical app where we take a photo, give it with a prompt to the AI and it creates a room design for us based on our requirements. Quite a few of these in the App Store as you might guess.
This is my second iOS app and was created mainly as an easy, quick project to practice publishing skills (descriptions, app images), learn ASO and StoreKit and monetise. I’ve implemented monetisation before, but always either with Adapty or RevenueCat.
I didn’t think anyone would be interested in this application, which is why I didn’t put much thought into the look. You could say that the appearance was there and that was that. What was my surprise when I saw that the money started to come in! I was so ashamed that the same day I sat down and tried to make the application look at least a little better. It’s still not a design, because I’m not a designer, but it looks nicer to me. I have also improved the process of selecting a style, adding an image etc. I mainly wanted to make it less clickable. You can also see the effect before and after the AI redesign better. I also made a new icon to make it at least look a little more professional. At least I can sleep a little better at night. I still need to refine the look and functionality of the gallery, but this will be done when I have time.
I don’t think I will ever make that mistake again and do something for nothing. From now on I will devote some time to each application so that I don’t have to be ashamed, even if it is free or just a learning tool.
